Madras HC suggested castration of child rapists:
  • Madras HC suggested Union govt. to consider castration as an additional form punishment for child sex abusers. Court suggested that though It seems barbaric but barbaric act must attract barbaric models of punishment.
  • Court further suggested govt. to introduce sex education at school level so that instead of getting half baked information students can get scientific information.
  • Some activists are against this view and cites examples that data show there is no reduction in commission of rape in those countries which adopt surgical or chemical castration.

Ques:”Children are future of our society requiring protection and all around development”.In the light of above judgement analyse the statement and suggest measure to restrict child abusing.

Clean Ganga:Corporate to fix sewage system
  • Govt. took a progressive step and decided to entrust corporate(Public and Pvt. Sector) house in urban sewage management system instead of civic bodies
  • The move came because of the fear that this fresh cleaning exercise might meet the fate of Ganga Action Plan(1985) wherein in spite of huge investment there was no significant reduction in pollution level.
  • It is expected that companies will run the project for 15 years so that they can recover their investment and make profits.
  • The step will introduce best practices in cleaning Ganga and will also tackle the finance problem for this huge project.

Indo-Africa Summit:
  • The third India-Africa forum summit has started in New Delhi.In this summit 54 African nations are participating.
  • About Summit:It is an official platform for Indo-Africa relations.The first summit was held at New Delhi in April 2008.The third summit seems to be the one of the biggest event happening on Indian soil. In the summit ,India asked support for Africa to get UNSC seat(for both of them) and UN reform .

Ques:Discuss the Indo-Africa relations and suggest measures to take it at strategic level in the backdrop of Chinese expansion in Africa.
